Mindfulness to the everyday is central to Andrew Pok Chong Boon’s art practice. The everyday that he refers to is the trivial, ordinary and inconsequential objects and activities that people tend to take for granted, something we so familiar with and less likely to give them a second thought.

Besides assembling everyday objects into sculptural forms and installations, Pok’s works also involve using everyday activities to perform and allow participation from the members of the public. His works reveal his interest in ideas of interconnectedness, suchness, nothingness and impermanent nature of people, things and matters.

Pok’s studio practice operates within subjects, time and space using the everyday and engages aspects of self, memories, social and cultural symbolic forms. His cultural upbringing and everyday experiences are often revisited, examined and evidenced in his art as well as his research.
